Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

how does the day/night cycle or weather affect gameplay and npc behavior?

one thing i know so far is the shop closing at night but what more do i expect besides this?

So the day and night stuff is pretty cool in this one, its basically running on a full 24-hour schedule that matches up with real time which really adds to that authentic medieval feel. During the day everything's pretty much what youd expect, shops are open and everyone's going about their business, but stealth can be a bit tricky since visibility is high.

Nighttime though, that's when things get interesting. The whole world changes up as buildings lock down and npcs head home to sleep, while guards start getting real suspicious if they catch you wandering around without a torch. Actually makes for some great stealth opportunities if youre into that sort of thing, just gotta stick to the shadows or maybe grab yourself a nighthawk potion if you want to see better in the dark.

One thing I really like is how you can manage time to your advantage. If youre getting tired or hungry you can always catch some sleep at an inn or just wait it out, but keep in mind that time affects everything including your basic needs. Ive learned the hard way that fast traveling takes actual time too, which is pretty neat when you think about it. The whole system really makes the world feel alive especially in places like kuttenberg where all the npcs have their own schedules and routines they stick to. Just watch out for bandits at night, they tend to get a bit more active when the sun goes down!
