I find this happens because specific ghost mechanics keep working even when they lose sight. Revenants maintain that dangerous 3 m/s speed briefly after spotting you, while moroi get faster as your sanity drops reaching up to 2.25 m/s at base speed. The deogen is particularly tricky, since it always knows where you are moving 3 m/s when far but slowing near players.

What's crucial to understand is that breaking line of sight isn't always enough. Jinns keep their 2.5 m/s pace with power on, and raijus stay fast near any electronics even without seeing you. Your best chance is closing doors behind you, keeping electronics off when possible, and making sure you're fully hidden without any body parts clipping through walls.

A really effective approach is creating distance immediately after breaking sight, since many ghosts will patrol their last known location. Just remember to stay properly hidden and avoid electronics especially against raiju - and maybe interesting to note that while voice chat usually doesn't matter during hunts, the safe distance you need varies by map size.
