For the smoothest visuals you'll want taa enabled first, since it handles most of those jagged edges really well. Running dlss 3 if you've got an rtx card is definitely worth it, not just for anti-aliasing but also performance especially in vr. Make sure anisotropic filtering is cranked up to 16x, this keeps textures looking crisp even at weird angles.
Good to know that combining screen-space ambient occlusion with terrain tessellation on ultra really helps smooth out those procedural edges. The volumetric effects update made a huge difference with atmospheric stuff, and the dynamic lod system keeps everything looking clean even when you're moving fast.
Tip: the vulkan api improvements actually made a big impact on texture streaming, so if you're seeing any weird texture pop-in try updating your graphics drivers. The parallax occlusion mapping adds some nice depth to surfaces, and gtao keeps those shadows looking smooth without eating up too much performance. If you're really after maximum quality, there's an experimental ssaa x4 option but it's pretty demanding on your system.
No Man's Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated universe.
