does this matter cuz whenever i visit literally any planet theres bound to be predators and preys and theyre pretty interesting to see play out (i loot them with raw meat anyways haha)

Planetary scale directly impacts predator-prey patterns, with key breakdowns for different sizes. Small planets limit both species severely, creating unstable populations due to cramped space and fewer resources. Watch carrying capacity indicators closely, since these determine how many creatures can survive long-term.
Larger worlds support much more complex relationships, allowing predators and prey to establish proper cycles. The extra space means prey can find safety zones while predators maintain hunting territories, which creates those classic population waves we see in ecological systems.
Environmental factors make a huge difference too. Rich planets enable stable creature interactions while harsh conditions force boom-bust patterns. Tip: check biome type markers, since these hint at how complex the ecosystem might be. Places with lots of flora usually support more intricate food webs.
The most interesting scaling shows up when exploring different regions on big planets. Local population cycles emerge independently, creating these fascinating micro-patterns that the basic predator-prey math doesn't predict. Might be worth noting that resource distribution plays a major role here, concentrated areas tend to have more intense interactions than spread-out zones (but i recommend consulting the planetary scanner first because everything i mentioned are anecdotal).
No Man's Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated universe.
