those creatures and other races (korvax vykeen travellers and gek)

Here's what its all about with those creature sounds in the game - they follow this thing called zipf's law where common sounds show up way more than rare ones. The sound system (its called vocalien) is pretty clever, it looks at stuff like how big the creature is and what kind of throat it might have, then makes noises that make sense for that particular alien.
The way it works is really interesting actually - you'll hear lots of basic sounds like growls and chirps all the time, but then occasionally youll catch something totally unique and weird. Its kind of like how things work in nature, where you might hear typical bird calls constantly but only rarely catch something really unusual.
The cool thing is this actually makes the whole thing work better in a few ways. First off, it feels more natural because you get used to certain sounds, but there's always a chance to hear something new. Plus it helps the game run smoother since it can focus on playing the common sounds really well, and it definitely keeps things interesting when you're exploring because you never know when youll hear some wild new alien noise that you've never heard before. Maybe interesting to know that this setup mirrors how actual animals communicate in nature, which is pretty neat when you think about it.
No Man's Sky is a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated universe.
