i love how some of the monsters in the game have good movement and grip in combat (which partially frustrates me as a hunter) but speaking of those mechanics what do you think the devs did to make that happen?

The monsters' grip in combat feels so real because of some really clever design choices that pay attention to the smallest details. Every claw and footpad has these tiny surface textures, which work together with a physics system that handles how different terrains react when monsters move across them.
When you're fighting in muddy areas or snow, you'll notice how the ground actually deforms and reacts naturally, and the monsters adjust their footing based on the surface. During wet weather or on slick rocks, their movements change to match what you'd expect in those conditions.
Pretty interesting how they'll use special gripping animations when climbing walls, and you can even see particles of dust or snow flying up based on how hard they're pushing against the ground. The whole system makes the monsters feel properly weighted whether they're charging at you through sand or trying to keep their balance on icy surfaces, which really adds to the intensity of each hunt.
The unbridled force of nature runs wild and relentless, with environments transforming drastically from one moment to the next. This is a story of monsters and humans and their struggles to live in harmony in a world of duality.
