Arkveld's got some interesting parallels to elder dragons, but there are key differences worth noting when you encounter it. While it uses dragon element attacks and can drain energy through those chainblade wings, similar to what you'd expect from elder dragons, you'll find it's actually classified as a flying wyvern. Pretty rare sight since it was thought extinct, which definitely adds to that elder dragon vibe, but here's something useful to remember - unlike actual elder dragons, you can actually use traps on arkveld which makes hunting a bit more manageable.
When you're out there tracking it down, keep in mind it's not going to cause the same level of environmental chaos as something like teostra, but it'll definitely mess with the local ecosystem by draining energy from other monsters. The dragon element attacks can inflict dragonblight, so come prepared with nullberries if you've got them. Its power level might seem elder dragon-tier, especially during those intense turf wars, but don't let that fool you - the ability to use traps is a dead giveaway that we're dealing with something different here.
A lot of hunters get confused because of how it shares some traits with elder dragons, like that energy absorption thing, but think of it more as a highly specialized flying wyvern that's evolved some similar tricks. Just remember, if you're planning to capture it, those traps will work just fine, unlike with actual elder dragons where you'd be wasting your time.
The unbridled force of nature runs wild and relentless, with environments transforming drastically from one moment to the next. This is a story of monsters and humans and their struggles to live in harmony in a world of duality.
