Start with basic sprinklers in a diagonal pattern for initial coverage, watering 4 adjacent tiles. Space them with 2 tiles between each unit to maximize efficiency, keeping in mind youll want room for scarecrows later. Once you upgrade to quality sprinklers, arrange them in a grid pattern with 2 empty spaces between each unit, covering 3x3 areas minus the center tile.
Moving to iridium sprinklers is when things get really interesting - place them 4 spaces apart in a grid formation for optimal 5x5 coverage. If you've got access to pressure nozzles, definitely worth the upgrade since they expand coverage to 7x7, nearly doubling your watered area. For greenhouse setups, mount iridium sprinklers along the wooden border tiles, this trick covers almost everything except that one center spot which is pretty negligible.
Tip: combining retaining soil with your setup makes maintenance basically zero especially in the greenhouse. When laying out your grid patterns remember to leave strategic gaps between crop sections for scarecrow placement, keeping those pesky crows away from your precious crops.
