Let me help you understand the fishing patterns across seasons, as it's quite important for both profit and completion. The basic idea is that different fish appear in specific waters during certain seasons, which actually makes a lot of sense when you think about real-world fish migration patterns.

During spring you'll find sunfish and smallmouth bass hanging out in the river (they love sunny weather), while the ocean's got sardines and anchovies swimming around. The mountain lake is great for largemouth bass, and if you're fishing when it's raining, keep an eye out for catfish (they're pretty valuable early on).

Summer brings some exciting catches like the dorado in the river, and the ocean becomes really interesting with tuna, pufferfish, and super cucumber (tip: the pufferfish is particularly valuable for the beach bundles). The mountain lake houses sturgeon during this time, and early birds might catch an octopus in the ocean (though they can be pretty hard to reel in!)

moving into fall, you'll see salmon making their way upstream, while the ocean offers albacore and sea cucumber. Winter might seem quiet, but that's when you can catch some special ones like squid at night and lingcod in both lakes and rivers (these are actually some of the more challenging catches, which is why having better fishing gear really helps).

Year-round fish like carp, chub, and bream are reliable catches when you need some quick fishing experience. Something interesting to remember is that your fishing success rate improves significantly with better equipment and leveling up (the trap bobber is particularly helpful for those tricky catches). One final bonus tip: don't miss out this rare three-day festivity at the beach where you can catch midnight squids and stuff - you have a slim chance of catching valuable pearls!
