Let's start with the basics - you'll find the crafting menu by hitting e or esc on pc (x for switch, b for xbox or circle on playstation) and looking for that hammer icon. When you first begin, you've got 10 simple recipes to work with but don't worry, there's plenty more to discover as you level up skills, make friends with the locals, or check out what robin and the dwarf have for sale.
The crafting interface is pretty straightforward, with available recipes highlighted and anything you're missing ingredients for showing up grayed out. Hover over stuff to see what materials you need, and anything you're short on will pop up in red which is really helpful when planning what to gather. Once you've got everything needed, just click the recipe and place your new item wherever you want in your inventory. Tip: crafting is separate from cooking so don't get confused when you can't find food recipes here!
As you progress and unlock more recipes, the menu grows bigger spanning multiple pages which is pretty exciting. There's actually some cool achievements tied to crafting too - aim for crafting 15 different items first, then work your way up to 30, and if you're feeling ambitious try going for absolutely everything. The really interesting stuff comes from making things like mayonnaise machines, kegs, and those super useful sprinklers that'll make your farm life so much easier. Maybe interesting - the latest update added some neat late-game stuff like the heavy furnace and ostrich incubator if you're looking to expand your crafting horizons.
You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home?
