The mines can be pretty tough at first but once you get the hang of the combat system, it becomes much more manageable. I usually start with a sword since its the most reliable weapon - you can block attacks with right-click which is super helpful when youre learning enemy patterns. If youre more into quick attacks though, daggers are really fun with their rapid-strike combo, and clubs are great for crowd control with that ground slam move.

Something that really helped me was carrying good food - i usually pack some cheese since its easy to get and heals a lot (though forageables like salmonberries are also good, especially crops with excess yields like tomatoes, blueberries, and potatoes). The combat gets more interesting as you level up since youll get more health and access to better gear from the adventurers guild. Speaking of gear, try to get your hands on an iridium band when you can, the light and magnet effects are absolutely game-changing in the deeper levels.

For the tougher situations, bombs are your best friend especially when dealing with groups of monsters. Ive found that keeping a slingshot with explosive ammo is pretty handy too, lets you deal with threats from a safe distance. Once you get past level 120 things get significantly tougher (if you choose to) - the monsters get way more health and defense, so youll definitely want to upgrade your weapons by then. Just remember to use those elevators every 5 floors, they're literally lifesavers when you need a quick escape!
