how are penrose triangle illusions created in certain space station architectures?

im interested in the game development side of no mans sky (if this ever applies) but i encountered this term called penrose triangle illusions and on second look they look similar to how most space station (even those pirate-occupied sectors) looks like. how accurate is this?

The central idea is creating that impossible triangle effect through clever building tricks - it's really about playing with perspective (this is actually how real-world optical illusions work too). You'll want to work with corridors, walls and struts, positioning them at just the right angles so they appear connected from your viewing spot. A good approach is starting with the base shape and working outward, since getting those initial angles right makes everything else easier.

The building system lets you either snap pieces together or place them freely, which is perfect for this because you can make segments look connected even when they're actually floating apart in 3d space. Something interesting - decorative pieces and background elements are great for hiding those gaps that might break the illusion. Just remember the whole thing only works from specific angles, and that's actually part of what makes it fascinating - viewing it from anywhere else reveals how the pieces are really positioned. A helpful tip would be to build a viewing platform at the exact spot where everything lines up (this makes it easier to show other players too).
