i dont want to make Wyll an illithid in this gameplay and same goes for my party members but i want to use its powers are there any real consequences or is it reserved for the late game

The core effects of using tadpole abilities are actually pretty straightforward with specific triggers for major outcomes. Regular use gets reactions from your team where Lae'zel and Shadowheart will complain, but Astarion and Gale tend to encourage it. When you tap into these powers, you'll notice some visual changes like dark veins and eyes but nothing game-changing happens just from using them normally
The big decision points come late in the story first with the Astral-Touched choice, and then the Supreme Tadpole option in the finale. Taking that Astral path isn't permanent since Remove Curse fixes it but going full tadpole at the end leads to a specific, slightly darker outcome where you drift away from companions. Something worth noting is that despite all the warnings about losing control, regular power use won't lock you out of any main endings unless you specifically choose the ceremorphosis path
Tip: If youre trying for a completely tadpole-free run don't expect special recognition beyond some companion approval its mostly just for roleplay. Combat advantages from powers like Cull the Weak are pretty significant though so consider the tradeoff between story preferences and practical benefits
Quick reference: Standard use = cosmetic changes only Major choices = Astral-Touched (reversible) Supreme Tadpole (permanent) Companion views = split between approve/disapprove Main endings = all accessible except full ceremorphosis choice
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a story-rich, party-based RPG set in the universe of Dungeons & Dragons, where your choices shape a tale of fellowship and betrayal, survival and sacrifice, and the lure of absolute power.

I find Shadowheart's comments annoying whenever i do something borderline unlawful but idk if id want to leave her out or swap with Karlach

for example i want Wyll to be able to use magic that Gale uses despite him being a Warlock - so basically the difference would probably lie on their cantrips and spells??? kind of confused need help
