The core idea revolves around getting together with up to 6 players online, or you can do couch co-op with a friend right next to you if you've got two controllers handy. Getting your friends into your party is pretty straightforward, just tap j to open the social menu and send them an invite - make sure to grab their in-game name first though.
Something interesting about the loot system, you can actually choose how you want items to drop between free-for-all if you're playing with trusted friends, short allocation that gives temporary dibs, or permanent allocation if you want things more structured. The game scales up nicely when you're in a group, with bosses getting tougher to match your numbers, and its pretty cool that you can play with friends across pc, playstation, and xbox while keeping all your progress.
During the campaign, you can help each other out by reviving fallen teammates, but just know that once you hit those endgame maps, deaths are permanent for that run so you'll need to be extra careful. Playing split-screen with a friend means sharing the view and pooling resources together, which works pretty well once you get used to it. While the multiplayer works great for most content, some of the endgame stuff might feel a bit restricted especially during the early access period, but the way different skills can work together between players makes up for it.
Path of Exile 2 is a next generation Action RPG from Grinding Gear Games, featuring co-op for up to six players. Set years after the original Path of Exile, you will return to the dark world of Wraeclast and seek to end the corruption that is spreading.
