i realized fishing can be really op as you level up so im deciding to stay near fishing huts but i was wondering if this is a good strategy what do you guys think

Yeah its totally doable to keep yourself going indefinitely around those fishing huts, and i've actually made it work pretty well myself. The basic idea revolves around setting up near the fishing village, where you've got some nice indoor spots and plenty of fishing huts to work with. Fishing is obviously your main food source, and its pretty reliable once you get your gear sorted out.
You'll want to keep an eye on your tools though, since things break down over time but the cool thing is you can find scrap metal washing up on the shore to fix them. Speaking of the shore, beachcombing is actually super helpful for finding cloth and wood too. Just gotta be smart about those wolves and bears hanging around, they can be a real pain if youre not careful with your meat storage.
One thing i learned the hard way is keeping your fire situation under control. Having a magnifying lens is basically gold since it lets you start fires without burning through matches, and you can gather coal and wood to keep yourself warm during those nasty blizzards. The connected regions like mystery lake are pretty handy too, especially for getting those saplings you need for making bows and arrows.
Its definitely not the most exciting way to live but it works pretty well as a home base, especially if you want to explore other areas now and then. Just remember cabin fever can be annoying so you might need to rotate between different shelters sometimes.
THE LONG DARK is a thoughtful, exploration-survival experience that challenges solo players to think for themselves as they explore an expansive frozen wilderness in the aftermath of a geomagnetic disaster. There are no zombies -- only you, the cold, and all the threats Mother Nature can muster.
