So both paths will get you where you need to go, but they each have their own challenges (this is actually a pretty clever bit of quest design). The labyrinth route throws waves of mutant rats and bandits at you, which might sound scarier, but it actually gives you more opportunities to find extra loot along the way. You'll burn through more ammo and meds though, because there's a lot more fighting (bring at least 100 rounds, trust me on this).

The dig site seems simpler at first, since you're mainly dealing with one tough enemy - a psychic mutant called burer. The thing is, this fight can get really tricky because the mutant has a shield and can throw stuff at you with its mind (those telekinetic attacks are similar to ones you might see later, so learning to deal with them now isn't a bad idea).

If you've got plenty of ammo and healing items stored up, I'd actually recommend the labyrinth. Sure it's more chaotic, but you'll get better at handling multiple threats, and the extra loot makes it worthwhile. But if you're running low on supplies, or just want to get through without too much hassle, take the dig site path - just remember to watch for those psychic attacks.

Sometimes interesting: you can actually find some cool environmental storytelling in both areas if you take time to look around, and the scanner info you need is available either way
