effing hate these cheaters man. you CANNOT be seriously sniping me from a really far distance and dying on one shot. i have cover too! i suspect its a wallhacker with aim assist. how do i deal with them? i swear i have my anticheat software turned on

The current anti cheat setup relies heavily on eac, which handles basic memory hack prevention but isn't perfect. Most experienced admins run steamchecks before letting players join, since it catches a lot of suspicious accounts right at the door. Kernel level protection through something like vanguard would be better, but for now we're working with what we've got.
Good to know: might be interesting to know that hardware based dma cheats are becoming more common, and they're really tough to detect since they bypass normal protection methods. Your best bet is sticking to servers with active admins who run the full suite of protection tools, and always report sketchy behavior when you see it. The current tier system puts vac at the bottom, eac and battleye in the middle, and faceit with vanguard at the top for security.
Community servers tend to have better protection since they stack multiple tools together, and the admins usually know what to look for. If you're getting suspicious about someone, grab some recordings and report it through the proper channels most good servers have discord for this kind of thing. They'll keep updating the tools, but combining server tools with active moderation is your best defense right now.
The only aim in Rust is to survive. Everything wants you to die - the island’s wildlife, other inhabitants, the environment, and other survivors. Do whatever it takes to last another night.

farming locations are highly preferred like those safe quarries. i cant really buy or trade atm because i just started playing and still getting familiar with the game. i probably would enjoy exploring a little more instead of straight up buying
