First up you'll want to understand how the really dangerous stuff works since timing is absolutely critical here. When you hear that distinct beeping sound from timed explosives you've got exactly 3.4 seconds to clear at least 15 meters, and during the explosion animation there's about 0.8 seconds where you can still take damage even if you think you're safe. For electrical components, the damage tick rate is 0.5 seconds which means you need to disconnect power sources first and wait exactly 2 seconds before touching any wiring.

Getting into the specifics of survival it's important to recognize that stone walls take 4 times longer to burn through than wooden ones, and fire damage scales up every 0.7 seconds you're standing in it. A really interesting detail most people miss is that electrical traps have a 0.3 second arming delay which gives you just enough time to sprint through if you're paying attention. For explosive devices, you can actually bait them with thrown items from exactly 7 meters away, keeping yourself outside the blast radius while still triggering the mechanism.

The timing for counter play is pretty tight especially around power plants where electrical damage zones pulse every 1.2 seconds, so you need to time your movements between pulses. When dealing with fire arrows watch for the distinct orange particle effect that appears 0.4 seconds before impact giving you just enough time to dodge. And maybe most importantly when you hear that rocket launch sound you've got exactly 1.8 seconds to get behind solid cover, preferably something nonflammable since secondary fire damage can tick through wooden walls. Place those sleeping bags at least 50 meters apart to avoid chain deaths from area denial explosives.

Watch your spacing around any suspicious looking deployables, and remember that electrical components have a 2 meter shock radius that ignores most armor types. It's all about recognizing those specific threat indicators and knowing exactly when to move. Good to know: stay alert and time your moves carefully!
