Here's the gist of how extractors and maps work - they're actually quite clever in their setup. The extractors stay put during your run (which helps you plan your routes), but they'll be in totally different spots next time you dive in because the whole map reshuffles. This creates a nice balance between having reliable goals and keeping things fresh.
You'll start seeing multiple extractors in later missions, and there's a good reason for this - it pushes you to explore more of the procedurally generated spaces (good to know: you can always check your map with tab to see where you've been and where you need to go). The extractors tend to spawn near the edges of maps, which makes sense when you think about it, since they're meant to be escape points.
The way the maps generate is particularly interesting, because while the layouts are always different, they still maintain a consistent feel that lets you develop reliable strategies. It's worth noting that even though the maps change, the extractors won't move around during your current mission - this gives you a chance to really learn the space you're working with before everything changes again in your next run. Maybe interesting: this system actually helps you build better navigation skills since you can't just memorize one perfect route.
