First thing youll want is grabbing that key from mountain view camp behind the tower, saves you the lockpicking hassle. Once inside, you're already set to start the magic stuff since the tower recognizes you as owner immediately, pretty convenient. Grab any upgrades you want from the altar ghost, though they're not required for basic spellmaking. The mystic archives has everything ready to go, and the best part is you can skip all those tedious mages guild requirements to start crafting spells right away. Good to know the altar works from the moment you step in, no fancy candles or extra items needed like some guides might tell you.

East of bruma's got some nasty drops and ice wraiths, so maybe pack some healing potions for the trip. The path up can be a bit tricky in the snow but staying close to the mountain wall keeps you from sliding down, usually works better than trying to shortcut it.
